On September 9, 2025, the Ministry of Health announced the appointment of Dr Tomasz Maciejewski, MD, PhD, as Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Health. The announcement was published through the ministry’s official channels.

Profile of the New Deputy Minister

Dr Tomasz Maciejewski is an experienced gynecologist, obstetrician, and perinatologist, long affiliated with the Institute of Mother and Child, where he served as Director General until his nomination. He completed postgraduate studies in healthcare organization management at the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) and holds an MBA in medicine.

He is the author of numerous scientific publications, books, and articles in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, and has participated in many research and development programs. Since 2007, he has been involved in teaching at the Postgraduate Medical Education Center, where he conducts courses required for specialization in perinatology.

He is the initiator of the MCSC Hospital Leadership Innovation competition and actively promotes the implementation of innovative solutions in hospitals, including those in MedTech and artificial intelligence.

Expert and Social Engagement

Dr Maciejewski has held and continues to hold key roles in expert and advisory bodies. He is a member of the Polish Gynecological Society, the Polish Society of Perinatal Medicine, and the Government Population Council. He has collaborated with the Patient Rights Ombudsman, contributing to the work of teams focused on hospital management and the Medical Incident Compensation Fund.

He has participated in the development of recommendations on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and in international research projects, including FAR SEAS. He is also a member of the Socio-Business Council of the Vistula University of Finance and Business.

New Challenges Ahead

As Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Tomasz Maciejewski will be responsible for areas related to health policy, the organization of the healthcare system, and the implementation of innovative solutions in hospital care.

His extensive clinical, scientific, and managerial experience is expected to provide valuable support to the ministry in its efforts to improve patient care and enhance the quality of the healthcare system.
