The Institute of Mother and Child is a scientific and research unit. It has over 70 years of tradition and a significant body of work recognized nationally and internationally. It was established by a resolution of the Council of Ministers in 1951 and since then has continuously participated in addressing the health and social problems of mothers, children, and adolescents. Its development has paralleled advancements in medicine, and the Institute has become a leader in many medical fields related to perinatology, neonatology, gynecology, and pediatrics. The Institute of Mother and Child serves as a research institute, focusing on conducting scientific research related to healthcare, primarily concentrating on the areas of family welfare, maternity, women’s health, and developmental medicine. Its activities also include comprehensive service and medical care, focused on treating the most complex developmental age disorders. Additionally, the Institute plays an advisory role, providing expert opinions on products for the developmental age population at the request of manufacturers and state authorities. In the educational and publishing spheres, the Institute is involved in postgraduate education for medical staff and conducts health education for the public by organizing courses and publishing the quarterly journal “Medycyna Wieku Rozwojowego” (Developmental Age Medicine), which is internationally indexed in MEDLINE and Index Copernicus.

The Polish Mother’s Health Center Institute in Łódź is one of the largest and most important highly specialized medical care centres in Poland. It combines clinical activities with scientific research. As a unique facility in the country, it offers comprehensive care for mother, foetus, and child – from foetal life to adulthood. The Institute comprises two hospitals: a gynaecology and obstetrics hospital and a paediatric hospital, where the most difficult cases from all over the country are treated. It specializes in, among others, neonatal cardiology and cardiac surgery, intensive care, gynaecological oncology, and prenatal diagnostics. The Institute (PMMHCI) conducts pioneering treatment programs, clinical trials, and innovative projects in medicine and new technologies, such as percutaneous heart valve implantations or monitoring neonatal pain using advanced algorithms. With an international partner, the Institute is implementing individualized developmental care for newborns (Newborn Individualised Developmental Care and Assessment Program – NIDCAP), which assumes that each little patient receives personalized care, ensuring the best conditions for the organism’s development, with the active participation of the parent. The principles of this concept are a standard of care in the best neonatal units worldwide. The Institute holds a category A scientific rating and collaborates with prestigious universities in Poland and abroad.

Pomeranian Hospitals Ltd. (Szpitale Pomorskie Sp. z o.o.) is one of the largest healthcare providers in northern Poland, owned by the Pomeranian Voivodeship Self-Government. The company comprises four key facilities: the Polish Red Cross (PCK) Maritime Hospital and St. Vincent de Paul Hospital in Gdynia, the F. The Warmian-Masurian Lung Diseases Centre in Olsztyn is a renowned specialist centre offering comprehensive care for respiratory system diseases. Diseases diagnosed and treated here include tuberculosis, lung cancer, bronchial asthma, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), sleep apnoea, and drug hypersensitivity. The facility also specializes in desensitization to Hymenoptera venoms (wasps, bees, hornets). The Centre’s structure includes, among others, a Pulmonology Clinic, an Oncology Department with chemotherapy for lung cancer, and a Thoracic Surgery Department. Patients are also offered respiratory and systemic rehabilitation, and procedures are performed in compliance with the highest quality standards, confirmed by the Accreditation Certificate from the Healthcare Quality Monitoring Centre. Thanks to advanced infrastructure, modern diagnostic methods (including fluorescence bronchoscopy), and a qualified team, the Centre provides comprehensive, highly specialized care for residents of the region and the entire country.

The Central Clinical Hospital of the Medical University in Łódź is one of the most modern and largest academic hospitals in Poland, forming an integral part of the Medical University of Lodz. It offers comprehensive medical care in many fields, including obstetrics, gynaecology, neonatology, oncology, surgery, and psychiatry. The hospital has a modern Department of Obstetrics and Perinatology, providing care at the highest, tertiary level of reference, making it one of the leading centres in the region. The Central Clinical Hospital of the Medical University (CSK UM) also serves as a teaching centre, educating future generations of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. The Stefan Cardinal Wyszyński National Institute of Cardiology – National Research Institute is a leader in the field of modern treatment methods for cardiovascular diseases in Poland. For over 45 years, the Institute has been initiating and disseminating innovative treatment methods, contributing to the dynamic development of Polish cardiology and cardiac surgery. The main clinical activities of the National Institute of Cardiology focus on: interventional treatment of acute coronary syndromes, diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, heart failure, arterial hypertension, acquired and congenital heart defects, vascular surgery, treatment of heart rhythm disorders, cardiac surgery treatment and heart transplantation, diagnostic imaging, as well as on the epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. NIKard (The National Institute of Cardiology) is among the leading national scientific units (category A+). Compared to Poland and Europe, it stands out for its exceptional experience in modern diagnostic imaging, especially in non-invasive imaging of coronary arteries.

The University Clinical Centre in Gdańsk is one of the largest and most modern hospitals in Poland, forming an integral part of the Medical University of Gdańsk. With over 80 years of tradition, the UCC (University Clinical Centre) offers comprehensive medical care in almost all fields, providing patients with access to advanced diagnostics, surgical treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care. Modern infrastructure, including the Invasive Medicine Centre and the Non-Invasive Medicine Centre, allows for the provision of services at the highest level. Numerous specialist clinics operate within the hospital’s structure, including the Clinic of Urology, the Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the Adult Psychiatry Clinic, and the Rehabilitation Clinic. Thanks to the commitment of qualified staff and continuous development, the University Clinical Centre in Gdańsk remains a leader in providing comprehensive healthcare, combining clinical activities with teaching and scientific research.

The Prof. Dr. Stanisław Popowski Voivodeship Specialist Children’s Hospital in Olsztyn is the largest multi-specialist paediatric centre in north-eastern Poland, with an annual number of hospitalizations exceeding 46,000 and nearly 250,000 outpatient specialist consultations. Thanks to the dynamic development of highly specialized services with a supra-regional reach, the hospital meets the health needs of children from all over Poland in areas such as: diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of rare diseases of the head and neck, neurodevelopmental disorders, surgery for congenital defects in newborns and premature infants, treatment of vascular lesions, burns and multi-organ injuries in children, comprehensive and interdisciplinary surgical treatment and rehabilitation of scoliosis, and highly specialized treatment of children with other rare diseases. The centre is an Expert Centre for Rare Diseases and belongs to European Reference Networks (ERN CRANIO – for rare craniofacial anomalies and ENT disorders, and ERN ITHACA – for rare congenital malformations and rare intellectual disability). The hospital also holds the status of the only Children’s Trauma Centre in this part of the country.
